 Janet-WalterReed

I recently visited Washington, DC, for the first time. I was thrilled to take a walk around the White House area, watching the construction of the inaugural stands and bleachers. I spent time in several of the Smithsonian museums and the National Gallery of Art. And I was able to restrain myself from announcing to fellow Metro passengers that this was the first time I rode the subway all by myself!

I provided complimentary energy balancing mini-sessions for military and civilian staff at the OTSG (Office of the Surgeon General, of the Army Reserve). I presented Energy Self-Care for Practitioners to approximately 35 occupational therapists at Walter Reed Medical Center.

On Friday, I received an honorary "United States Army Reserve--Occupational Therapy" patch from the Chief of Occupational Therapy of the Army Reserve, Colonel Mary Erickson.

Energy Self-Care Tip

Many of us do a great job of learning new things, taking on new projects, and empathizing with others. We are good, sometimes, at taking on more energy. Sometimes, there is a need to incorporate "energy-releasing" into our routines to balance out our energy. We have energy centers on the bottoms of our feet, which can be opened by our intention to open them. If you prefer imagery over intention, imagine that you have a flower opening, or a black rubber piggy bank plug popping off the soles of your feet. Then, by your intention or imagery, let all the energy you don't need drain out of your body through the soles of your feet. Energy releasing is a great habit to use on your way to your car at the end of your workday, or outside before you go to bed at night.
